OMG! FB! Y? b/c. LOL!

  • By Life's Digital Bits

Did you understand the title? Are you wondering if this is some strange new language. Wonder no more. It’s nothing more than Twitter shorthand. Since Twitter only allows you 140 characters to get your message, you have to get creative.  Here’s an explanation of some of the more common abbreviations you’ll find on Twitter (or even outside of Twitter!)

b/c, bc– Because

DM– Direct Message: a private message to a person you follow.

EM, EML– Email

#FF– Follow Friday: to recommend someone be followed.

F2F – Face to Face

FB – “Follow Back” or Facebook

B2B – Business to Business

B2C – Business to Client

HT – Hat Tip or Heard Through

HTH – “Here to Help” or “Happy To Help”

LOL – “Laughing out loud” or “Lots of Love”

MT – Modified Tweet: not the full original text of the tweet

NSFW– Not Safe For Work: contains content that might get you fired

OMG – Oh My Gosh (God)

OH– Overheard

RT- ReTweet: share a tweet

Y – Why

YT– YouTube
