Imagine the world when we won’t need to use passwords or fingerprint scanners anymore. Will it look like this?
The device in the video is called the Nymi. It works by reading a person’s electrocardiogram (ECG), a measure of the electrical activity generated by your heart. A person’s ECG is completely unique to every person. It’s as unique as your fingerprint.
The Nymi is a bracelet, very much similar to the Fitbit Flex or the JawboneUp. Once you calibrate it, it is constantly making sure that you’re the right person wearing the right device, and that you’re connecting it to the right smartphone or tablet.
The Nymi’s basic role is to get rid of the need for passwords. Imagine sitting down at your computer and never needing to enter a password, the device just logs you in. But when you walk away, the device logs you out also. The Nymi’s authentication is so good and secure that there’s hope it will be used for payments, passwords, even unlocking your car and house doors.
