Fair Use Rights Catch 22

  • By Life's Digital Bits

gavelHere’s a good article explaining the catch 22 presented by the Digital Media Copyright Act (DMCA). In short, we consumers have the right to copy/back up any digital content we purchase with or without copy protection. But it’s illegal for anyone to create a way to circumvent the copy protection so that we can copy it. So we can copy but we can’t have tools to do so. Bloody crazy! something got to change because you can’t have a rule that make it illegal to do something legal. What can we do? Contact our reps in Washington D.C. They passed the act, they can unpass it. No voice, no change.
